How To Roll Your Own Joints : )
Joint rolling is a skill. An important one. And it takes practice and determination to progress from rolling small cigarette-like joints to sculpting long, thick bat joints.
But if you really want to stand out from the crowd with your superior joint-rolling abilities, then you need to bring something special to the table. And what’s more special to a group of smokers than a perfectly constructed cone joint?
An Amsterdam favorite, cone joints do more than impress. Due to their conical shape, they also contain a lot more weed than a typical joint. This is vital if there is a group of you wanting to smoke. After all, there’s little worse than a poorly-rolled joint that’s dead before it makes its way around the room.
Well, with an expertly-rolled cone joint, you don’t have to worry about that. Puff, puff, pass it around the group and it’ll soon make its way back to you, with a trail of red-eyed stoned people in its wake. If you know what you’re doing, it may even take another couple of rounds to finish it off.
So, just how do you roll the perfect cone joint? Read on for step-by-step instructions.
How to Roll a Perfect Cone Joint
Requirements
Before you can roll the perfect cone spliff, you are going to need a few things.
- King-size rolling papers
An obvious essential for rolling a beast of a cone joint is long rolling papers. Try and get king-size, as these will make the final result all the more impressive.
- Filter tips
These will provide your epic cone joint with stability and shape. You can buy a pack of tips that you can roll yourself. Or, alternatively, you can buy a ready-to-use conical filter. These are recommended for your first few attempts.
- Grinder (or scissors)
In order to grind up your weed, you’ll need, you guessed it, a grinder. If you don’t have one at hand, a pair of scissors will do. Just make to chop up your bud nice and fine and leave no large lumps, stems or seeds.
- Cup, a tray or a piece of paper
This is where you’ll put your chopped up-weed.
- Cannabis
Of course, the star of the show. Make sure you’ve got a good few grams of your favorite strain because cone joints, as the king of joints, deserve only the best.
- Tobacco (optional)
This is optional and down to your own preference. Some people like it, some don’t. Europeans are famous for their use of tobacco in joints, however.
The Steps
Follow these step-by-step instructions and you’ll be well on your way to cone joint mastery in no time at all.
Step 1: Grind
First of all, grind or chop your weed up and put it in your cup, on your tray or on a piece of paper.
Step 2: Spread the rolling paper with the strip of glue facing up and put your filter on it
Pull a rolling paper from the pack and place it face-up on the table. Make sure the sticky edge of the paper is facing up. Roll a cone-shaped filter or grab your ready-bought one and put it on one end of the paper, along the crease.
Step 3: Put marijuana on your paper, putting less near the filter and increasing the amount as you move outwards
Sprinkle your herb into the crease of the paper. Start at the filter with a small amount and move your way to the other side of the paper, increasing the amount of weed as you move along the joint. This will help attain the cone-shape result you desire.
Step 4: Fold the paper and gently twist into the form of a cone
Holding the weed-filled paper with both hands, your thumbs at the front, gently fold the front edge of the paper round and tuck it behind the weed and in front of the top-side of the paper. Twist in nice and tight.
Step 5: Roll it, lick the glue, and smooth down
Once you have a solid cone shape in hand, gently roll the top-side of the paper without rushing or crushing the paper. Before the cone is completely rolled up, wet your tongue and lick the sticky top edge of the paper. Now, smooth it down with your finger, being careful not to cause any creases.
Step 6: Put more weed in if needed and tap down
Now you have your cone joint, you may want to pour some more weed into the end to fill it up. Then, with the help of the end of a pencil or other thin object, poke the weed into the joint and tap.
Step 7: Carefully twist the end to tighten the joint
There should be a small amount of empty space at the end of the joint. Squeeze this bit and twist it. It will tighten the joint and make sure no weed falls out the end.
Step 8: Smoke =)
Sit back, light up, and toke away.
Fade to black.
Notes
If you wish to make a cone blunt, simply use a cigar wrap instead of a rolling paper. You can buy this ready-to-roll, or alternatively, you can take apart a cigar by tearing it open and removing the tobacco.
